The father sustained severe burns.

Three people were injured in a fire at Elgro flats on Friday night, 11 December.

According to a Voluntary Emergency Medical Assistance (VEMA) paramedic who was on scene, the fire started in a fifth storey flat at about 10.15pm and three members of the family living there were injured.

“The father sustained severe burns and was taken to hospital, while the mother and toddler were treated for smoke inhalation,” said Netcare 911 media liaison, Chris Botha, whose paramedics treated the injured.
