60-plus pupils hurt in Adams Mission bus crash

Paramedics found multiple school children injured on the roadside as well as down the embankment

At least 61 school children were injured after a bus overturned and rolled down an embankment on the R603 near Adams Mission, just inland of Amanzimtoti at about 12.15pm on Friday, 26 August.

On arrival, paramedics found multiple school children injured on the roadside as well as down the embankment. More ambulances were immediately dispatched to the scene as well as advanced life support units.

The cause of the accident is under police investigation.

Netcare 911’s Athlenda Mathe reported that the school children sustained moderate to minor injuries. Netcare paramedics worked alongside various services at the scene.

All the injured children were stabilised and transported to various hospitals for further care.
