Fill a festive shoebox for a child

We request that all items be new and age-appropriorate.

A Centre That Serves (ACTS) requests the public’s help to donate Christmas boxes to 361 children.

The centre hopes to fill the shoe boxes with the following items:

  • Toothpaste,
  • toothbrush,
  • soap,
  • washcloth,
  • outfit of clothing,
  • educational supplies,
  • sweets and a
  • toy.

“We request that all items be new and age-appropriorate,” said ACTS manager, Carol van Zyl.

“Put all liquids, like cosmetics or blow bubbles, into a ziplock bag, as well as chocolates, so that the contents cannot leak out and spoil the shoebox. Also, include extra batteries with battery-operated toys or choose a non-battery-operated alternative.

Do not put in perishable or tinned food or sweets containing nuts, medicine or vitamins of any kind, violence-related items like toy guns or knives or anything of a political, religious or racial nature.

Label the shoebox with the recipient’s sex and age written on it and secure the lid to the box with an elastic band.
