Quilt donation blankets care centre

Ros Visagie looks after and home-schools 16 orphaned and abandoned children.

Palm Tree Care Centre received an early Christmas present when members of the Cottage Patch Quilters Guild donated 16 beautiful quilts to the children.

Ros Visagie (67) currently looks after and home-schools 16 orphaned and abandoned children, ranging in age from three-years-old to 20.

“I started a daycare centre and Christian school in 1994 and it evolved into the Palm Tree Care Centre in 1997,” said Ros, who is guardian to six of the children.

“It’s awesome that my children are going to get something that is theirs. They will be surprised. I knew about the donation but the children don’t. I can’t wait to show them. Thanks to the Cottage Patch Quilters Guild.”

The pensioner’s children are active in the community, participating in lifesaving, art, hip hop dancing and athletics.

Ros is looking for holiday jobs for six of the older children and three mentally challenged children. If anyone can help, call her on 071-907-9293.
