Avid angler will be missed

Johannes was a keen fisherman in Winkelspruit.

Well-known fisherman Johannes van Niekerk (90) died on Wednesday, 9 November.

“Johannes was a keen fisherman in Winkelspruit and he fished daily since he was a child,” said his wife Marie.

“He will be sadly missed in the community, as he always had a friendly conversation with everyone.”

He and Marie lived in Toti for 20 years after relocating from Harrismith.

Johannes is survived by his wife, Marie, three children, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, four step-children and their 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
