Ex-Toti muso’s CD hits shelves

JUST in time for the festive season, an ex-Toti musician’s band’s CD has been made available locally.

Danre van der Spuy, who is one half of Wolwe-Dans, was spotted in Galleria Mall on Tuesday, 20 December, to confirm their first CD is available for sale at Musica.

Made up of Danre and band mate Landru Ehlers, Wolwe-Dans released their first CD entitled ‘Groete Van My’ two months ago. Danre describes it as an Afrikaans pop rock album and said it still feels “unreal”.

Having grown up in Amanzimtoti, he schooled at Kuswag and was always in the school choir, which is where the musical bug bit him. “I was in grade 9 when I joined my sister’s ex-boyfriend’s band Doringdraad as a back-up vocalist,” said Danre. “That’s when I knew for sure this is what I wanted to do.”

The vocalist and guitarist studied music at the Malie Kelly Vocal Academy last year, after completing his BCom in business management at Potchefstroom. While under her tutelage, Idols vocal coach Malie Kelly sensed potential when she heard some jams he was playing one day, which gave rise to the album.

Wolwe-Dans’ CD Groete Van My is available at all Musica stores, including Galleria, on iTunes and from the Google Play store.
