Hit the trail this Friday
Whether running or walking, you'll be hard-pressed to find more scenic surroundings to get active in.

LACE up for the 5km trail run/walk in Lower Illovo this Friday, 31 March at 6pm.
The starter’s gun for the second of three 5km trail run/walks will sound at the Illovo Business Park in Lower Illovo, in an event that will also double as a fundraising drive for blind Toti man, Storm Schwartz.
Storm, who will himself participate, is raising funds to have his sight restored.
Entrants are encouraged to support the cause by providing a minimum of R20 each towards Storm’s sight restoration. In addition to the individual donations towards Storm’s sight, the organisers also hope to auction off an autographed Sharks shirt on the night, with the proceeds going to Storm’s cause.
Whether running or walking, you’ll be hard-pressed to find more scenic surroundings to get active in. The event takes in the beauty of the natural surrounds as the route, which in part runs parallel to the beautiful Illovo River, is accompanied by incredible natural sights including two fish eagles that nest in a tree closeby, other bird as well as wildlife.
The event will be followed by prize-giving, with revised prizes for the first three entrants in the men’s and women’s open category and first prize for junior men and women. The organisers have received support from sponsors Hypersure and Mark White Nissan.
For the more leisurely entrants, the trail run/walk will also include one or two optional obstacles to liven up their event.
Entry for the trail run/walk costs R50 per adult, or R80 which includes a boerewors roll and energy drink. Children under 12 enter for free and U18s cost R40. Register on the day from 4.30pm onwards.
Refreshments and drinks will be on sale at each of the events, as well as secure, fenced parking. Safety officers will be sited along the course, which also has ablution and shower facilities.
