Help Kingsburgh Lions spread warmth this winter
Residents are encouraged to donate scarves, beanies, pullovers, cardigans, blankets or any article of clothing.
Kingsburgh Lions has appealed to Amanzimtoti residents to assist with its annual Anything Warm campaign.
“It’s that time of the year again when we put out an appeal to our local community for scarves, beanies, pullovers, cardigans, blankets, or any article of clothing that will offer warmth to those in our community who are unable to purchase winter woollies to guard themselves against the cold,” said Kingsburgh Lions president, Helen Toward.
“In previous years, due to the overwhelming generosity of our local residents, we have been able to distribute much-needed clothing, blankets, socks and so on to people who have been sorely in need.
“If you have been knitting or crocheting and don’t know what to do with your scarves, beanies and blankets, drop them in our baskets provided at various drop-off points.”
As in the past, the Lions have arranged with local businesses to set up drop off and collection points at their premises. This year’s collection points are at Amanda’s Restaurant in Rockview Road, Hairy Fairies Hairdressing Salon in Kingsburgh Centre on the mezzanine floor directly above Waste Centre, Jenny’s Hair Salon in Winklespruit, Jaxx Hair Salon in Beach Road, Illovo Nursery and Modern Wave in Athlone Park.
“We will be most grateful for anything warm in order to distribute various articles to those in need of them, before winter begins in earnest,” said Toward.
