70 children hurt in R603 Adams Mission bus crash

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known.

About 70 children have been injured this morning (Friday, 12 May) when a bus overturned on the R603 at Adams Mission just after 9.30am.

ER24 paramedics, along with various other services, found the bus lying on its side at the roadside.

“Occupants from the bus had already climbed out of the vehicle and were walking around the scene,” said ER24 spokesman, Russel Meiring.

On closer inspection, paramedics discovered the patients were children. They assessed them and found about 70 had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

“Fortunately, no serious or fatal injuries were reported.”

The children were treated for their injuries, then transported to various hospitals in the area for further treatment.

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known, but police and traffic authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
