WATCH: Cereal or oatmeal, which is healthier?
Which do you think is better, cereal or oats?
With so many breakfast choices, its not easy choosing the healthiest one, especially if you don’t have the time to read the back of the cereal boxes.
Cereal is known to have a load of sugar and most of them are aimed at children such as fruit loops with 12 g sugar content and coco pops with a heavy 39 g. Even your branflakes and corn flakes that you have still contain a bit of sugar. Bran flakes being 17 g and corn flakes 10 g.
But cereal does have some good qualities such the additional nutrient value including essential vitamins such as iron, B vitamins and zinc. Cereal being mostly grain based offers the benefits of grains too.
But what about oats? You always hear how oats are the healthiest choice for a breakfast choice but unlike cereal there is not much of a variety to it and it can be boring to eat. According to medicalnewstoday oats reduces the risk of coronary artery disease, lowering levels of cholesterol, and reducing one’s risk of colorectal cancer, so it has more benefits.
