
A truck driver, believed to be in his 40s, was killed after the truck he was in collided with another truck on the N2 southbound carriageway near Umgababa this afternoon (Tuesday, 17 April).

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene just after 2pm, the man was found entrapped in the truck and the fire department was extricating him using the jaws of life.

The man was found to be in a critical condition and treatment and advanced life support interventions were initiated to stabilise the patient’s vital signs, according to ER24 spokesman, Ineke van Huyssteen.
The man succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the scene shortly afterwards.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not yet known to our paramedics, but the police were on the scene for further investigations.
