CCPO nabs housebreaker with stolen goods

In a separate incident on Wednesday, 30 May a stolen bicycle was returned to its grateful owner.

A housebreaker was apprehended by the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) with stolen goods after he broke into a caravan in Dan Pienaar Drive, Amanzimtoti on Thursday, 31 May.

CCPO committee member, George Snodey reported that two foot patrol guards posted in Dan Pienaar Drive saw the man carrying electrical extensions and other items at about 4am. “He was questioned and he took the guards to the caravan he had broken into.” He has been handed over to Amanzimtoti SAPS.

In a separate incident on Wednesday, 30 May, a stolen bicycle was returned to its grateful owner after it was found by the CCPO. The bicycle was stolen in Illovo beach on Tuesday and a description was circulated.

“At about 7.30am on Wednesday CCPO operations manager, Rupert Smit saw a bike fitting the description near the Winkle taxi rank. By the time he had turned around the suspect had turned into DSM Mall.

He was stopped and the light that was originally fitted on the handle bars was found on him after he had removed it. The owner was contacted and came out to positively identify the bike as his.” The thief was handed over to Toti SAPS.
