Sassa employees strike for wage increase

No new applications will be processed while the strike is ongoing.

A protected strike at all Sassa offices is scheduled to take place today,  (Monday, 2 July), according to  Ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge.

The aim of the strike is to secure wage increases and should the negotiations not result in the desired outcome, it is believed, the strike could continue into the week.

During this time no new applications will be processed.

Complaints about new cards

If a new card to replace the previous one has been issued by a Sassa outlet or the post office, the first withdrawal has to be done by visiting a post office – the card will then be identified as being active, following which it can then be used at other outlets or by drawing from the person’s bank account.

Once the new card has been verified and activated, the old card becomes invalid.
