FRIDAY, 21 SEPTEMBER TO SUNDAY, 23 SEPTEMBER: The Heritage long weekend sees the 2018 edition of the SA Softball Masters Championships take place at Hoy Park, Durban daily from 8am to 6pm. Masters club teams representing provinces from all over South Africa and Botswana will compete. Watch the stars from yester-year compete for top honours once more. SUNDAY, 23 SEPTEMBER: Amanzimtoti’s partially sighted and blind bowlers are urged to attend the Visually Impaired Bowlers Association’s weekly bowling afternoon at Berea Bowling Club in Durban every Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. Blind and partially sighted people who are prepared to join this association can look forward to an afternoon of fun and fellowship playing bowls. SUNDAY, 23 SEPTEMBER: Toti Ramblers will walk the Pigeon Valley Natural Heritage Park. As this is a fairly short one, they will then proceed to do a walk in the Botanical Gardens, followed by a picnic. Meet at Lords and Legends parking area at 7am to arrange transport. TUESDAY, 25 SEPTEMBER: Celebrate the return of warmer weather at the Spring full moon beach walk at 5.30pm. The start is at Baggies Beach, Warner Beach and walkers set out to walk to Winkle Beach and back. All are welcome, but dogs must be on leads. For enquiries call Yvonne on 074-190-0949.

WEDNESDAY, 26 SEPTEMBER: 21 Club’s luncheon to celebrate Spring will be held at Lords and Legends conference room at noon for 12.30pm. The theme is ‘bright and beautiful’ and hats are optional but welcome. Guest speaker Zanele Njapha is a local young teacher and recently published author. Zanele will unfold her journey towards self-publishing her novel ‘An Eye for Love’ and the way forward. Confirmation to attend or not must be received by the relevant committee members by Friday, 21 September. Remember to take a grocery item for Lions Club. Members may invite a guest who will be accommodated if there is space.

FRIDAY, 28 SEPTEMBER: Amanzimtoti Child and Family Welfare holds its AGM at its offices on the corner of Kotho Makhunya Road and Lewis Drive from 9.30am. Ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge is the guest speaker who will speak on ‘the state of the village’. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. TUESDAY, 25 SEPTEMBER: Umbogintwini Dog Training’s final semester of 2018 commences at Lords and Legends from 5.30pm to 6.30pm for puppies, canine from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Cost is R300 which covers a 10 week puppy training and R100 for second class (canine). Ensure you take the following with you: Puppy/dog on a collar and lead, your pet’s vaccination book (having had second vaccs), treats (something that your animal is keen on), plastic bags in case you need to clean up after your pet. FRIDAY, 28 SEPTEMBER: Indwe Learning Centre hosts a Spring open day from 9am to noon at 197 Old Mill Road, Lower Illovo. There will be an inspirational session followed by some activities with the children. The theme is stepping into new beginnings which will teach participants the art of visioning and celebrate some heritage games with activities, to see how much we can learn through the eyes of a child. SATURDAY, 6 OCTOBER: Turning Point hosts a diamonds and pearls women’s brunch and market at Amanzimtoti High School from 10am to 1pm. Dress smart casual with diamonds and pearls. CHESS players meet on alternate Wednesdays at either Kingsburgh library or Amanzimtoti library.

There is no charge. The time will be decided to suit the players.

All levels of chess players, from beginners to advanced, are welcome.

Lions host health checks

KINGSBURGH Lions Club hosts its next health testing session on Saturday, 8 September.

Every second Saturday of the month, between 10am and noon, Kingsburgh Lions Club hosts free blood pressure and diabetes testing at Pick ’n Pay Arbour Crossing. Look out for their table at the Pick n Pay entrance.
