Amanzimtoti SPCA barks about successful open day
The open day saw cupcakes, muffins, cake, coffee and breakfast rolls sold to raise funds for the shelter.

AMANZIMTOTI SPCA deems its open day, which took place on Saturday, 1 December, as its best one yet.
With the festive season fast approaching, the shelter urges the community to not forget about its ongoing needs.
“Saturday was the most successful open day yet and we thank everyone who supported us,” said SPCA manager, Tracey Girling.
The open day saw cupcakes, muffins, cake, coffee and breakfast rolls sold to raise funds for the shelter. Tara Aberdeen’s completely vegan stall offered cupcakes, cake and the most delicious hamburgers, all free of animal products.
Two exquisite cakes and a whisky hamper were raffled off, which further tallied up funds to aid the shelter in delivering its good work. The thrift shop’s half price sale drew in crowds who left with great deals on clothing, bric-a-brac and household items.
The shelter urges the community to keep it in mind this festive season. It welcomes donations of pet food, clothing, linen, bric-a-brac, household items, books and cash. Tracey stipulated that kitten and puppy food is in very high demand, especially over the festive season.
“I ask everyone to keep their animals safe over the festive season,”said Tracey. “Make sure they are microchipped or have a collar with ID tags. If you are going away, ensure responsible people look after your animals.”
Visit the shelter at 1 Nyati Road, Athlone Park or contact the office on 031-904-2424/5.
