Experience the iconic Illovo chariot festival this Easter
At 10am this Saturday, the enormous, beautifully decorated chariot departs from Maha Vishnu Temple for the Lower Illovo sports grounds.
THE Illovo Shree Maha Vishnu Temples will celebrate its 111th Easter Chariot Festival this Saturday, 20 April from 10am in Lower Illovo and the Amanzimtoti community is invited to be part of the festival.
This annual event is a 10-day celebration, counting down to Easter Saturday, when the chariot is pulled by devotees.

At 10am this Saturday ,the enormous, beautifully decorated chariot departs from Maha Vishnu Temple for the Lower Illovo sports grounds. Around 3pm the chariot then departs the sports grounds and heads back towards the Maha Vishnu Temple.
“The event proves a fun-filled and exciting day for devotees, which have travelled from various provinces to celebrate this auspicious day,” said Tracy Subramany. “This year we even have the Rebel Warriors Bikers Club escorting the procession from the temple to the sports grounds.”
