Amanzimtoti Community: Help fund #WarriorMiané’s medical procedures
Miané's family needs to raise an amount of R76 520 for her procedures.
WARRIOR of a child, Miané Ainslie (5) is in desperate need of monetary donations in order to receive needed medical procedures.
Needing to receive the procedures in July, these total R76,520 and mother Claudette Matthee appeals to the community for assistance.
In November 2015, 19-month-old Miané Ainslie fell into a porta pool at her grandmother’s house in the suburbs of Witbank. It is suspected that she was in the pool for approximately 10 minutes before her grandmother found her. Receiving CPR since being pulled from the water until arriving at Life Cosmos Hospital, a faint heartbeat was heard after 23 minutes.
Miané has received extensive therapy over the years and is making progress on a daily basis. Through treatment and extensive therapy Miané has regained much movement of her arms and legs, her eyesight and head control. She is also making more sounds and has gained more of her personality that she had before the accident.
“The final estimated quotes came in for these much needed procedures, which include botox, theatre, X-rays, hospital day stay, sonar and Neurologist visits,” said mother Claudette.

“The botox in her neck and leg muscle is needed urgently to relieve the tightness that is pulling her feet and legs inwards and her head to the right. With being in theatre, they will also need to do full X-rays on the hips and back and also check bone age and density.”
Claudette explained that following the procedures, Mianè will receive a programme of exercises to help the weak muscles get stronger, which in return will not only build the muscles correctly but also send signals to the brain which creates new neuro pathways.
“It will also relieve her from the constant pain she currently is in and will also relieve a bit of the dystonic jerkings and spastic muscle spasms. She currently suffers with all the spastic and dystonic muscle spasms and jerkings and is in a lot of pain,” said Claudette.
Claudette appealed to the community for assistance in raising funds for little Miané.
“We need to raise a total of R76 520 by 25 June to ensure her place in theatre and her booking with the doctors. If only 383 members of our Warrior Mianè supporters donate as little as R200, we can reach our target,” she said.
