Great wins for both league teams at Umkomaas Golf Club

Umkomaas Golf Club will once again host its ever popular quiz evenings on Friday, 2 August.

Umkomaas Golf Club’s (UGC) men and women’s leagues teams enjoyed winning ways this past weekend and flew the Umkomaas flag high.

The women played against Scottburgh at Port Shepstone and took away five of the six points on offer with two wins and a draw.

These points should provide a healthy boost to Umkomaas’ position on the league table with just two matches left in the season.

The men’s side played at Umhlali, but took on Cotswold Downs, smashing them by securing eight and a half points to just three and a half.

Dave Kemp is the monthly mug winner. The monthly mug competition was played in good conditions, considering the high winds experienced on Friday, 5 July. Dave Kemp, steady as ever, was awarded the Malanda Toyota Mug for a superb 66 nett.

Divisional winners included: A division: Jacques Kirstein (36 points), and Francois Rossouw (33 points). B division: Dave Kemp (40 points), and Nelson Moonsamy (38 points). C Division: Keith Vergottini (33 points) and Ken Koster (31 points).

The women’s section has opted to host its annual women’s day later in the year, follow the club’s Facebook page for more information.

During the school holidays the club’s juniors performed very well in a range of junior tournaments, emerging victorious more than once.

Congratulations to Willie O’Connell for coaching his talented grandsons and building their skill.
