Toti bowlers achieve good results at SAAF champs

Toti Bowling Club’s Andy Walker and Rob Green represented Air Force Base Durban from Sunday, 11 to Friday, 16 August, in the 51st SA Air Force champs held in Langebaan.
The combined team achieved bronze in singles and trips, silver in rinks/fours and bronze overall. Andy was selected as the most promising player of the tournament and won the floating trophy. He was also selected to play third in the first SAAF team.
Well done to Jeanne Alexander and Jane Coetzee who won all five games in their section in the KZN women’s pairs and got through to the quarter finals at Pietermaritzburg West Bowling Club. Note the draw for the PN pairs is on the notice board.
In the men’s senior singles semi-final, Greg McLeod beat Dallas Davis. Toni Roberts defeated Jenny Rautenbach in the women’s novice singles in a close game of 24 ends. The men’s nominated pairs final will be played on Saturday, 24 August and the last game of the women’s novices will be played on Thursday, 22 August, to decide the winner.
Winners of the men’s 2-4-2 were Ian Crouch and Lofty van Tonder; runners-up were Gert Richter and Doug Walton and second session went to Phil Perkins and Gary Marquis-Jones. At big chicks, winners were Mark Brodie, Michelle Pitchers, Dave McMillan and Trevor Osbourne. Doug Joubert, John Mitchley, Lynn Joubert and Mike Pitchers were runners-up and second session was won by Pam Chalder-Royle, Leonie Mills, Shawn Sutherland and Carole Glaves.
At TGIF, Jackie Holdrick won the 100 board. J Schimmings was not present for the members draw; next week’s prize will be worth R150. Gary Marquis-Jones had no luck in choosing the lucky key; next week’s key will be worth R3 100. Birthday wishes are sent this week to Andy Walker, Barry Bush, Kevin Lindsay, Cliffie Hole and Lee Madson.
Mutton will be played on Sunday, 25 August. Club competitions are being completed. Remember the AGM and prize-giving takes place on Saturday, 7 September, from noon. Take a plate of eats to share.
