The Drakensberg Boys Choir performs this weekend at Scottburgh High School on Sunday, 8 September at 2pm. Worldwide there are many schools with boys’ choirs, but the Drakensberg Boys Choir is unique and one of only a few of its kind, globally: a boarding school using choral music as a significant vehicle for holistic education. The mission of the Drakensberg Boys Choir School is to prepare boys for life and leadership through excellence in music, academics, physical development and social enrichment in a Christian environment. SATURDAY, 7 SEPTEMBER: BirdLife Port Natal hosts an outing to Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve from 7am. Bring picnic and chairs, there is an entrance fee. For further information, call Terry Walls on 082-871-6260.

WEDNESDAY, 11 SEPTEMBER: Upper South Coast Garden Club meets every second Wednesday of the month at 9.30am. The venue is published in the SUN of the previous week. Membership is open to anyone interested in gardening even if you don’t have a garden. Annual membership fees are R30. Visitors are welcome. THURSDAY, 12 SEPTEMBER: Khanya Hospice’s 34th annual general meeting takes place at 7 Winder Street, Umkomaas at 5pm for 5.30pm. This promises not to be a long meeting. THURSDAY, 12 SEPTEMBER: MONDAY, 16 SEPTEMBER: Amanzimtoti Child and Family Welfare Society’s AGM takes place at the corner of Adams (Khotho Mkhunya) Road and Lewis Drive from 9.30am for 10am. The guest speaker is Razyia Docrat, a civil practitioner at Legal Aid. Refreshments will be served afterwards. MONDAY, 16 SEPTEMBER: The next SAARP meeting takes place on Monday, 16 September, and not 9 September (since the Bowling Club is booked for another function) from 9.30am to about 11.30am at Toti Bowling Club. Safe parking in the grounds. All visitors and new members from 50 years old are welcome. R5 entrance fee payable at the door. Guest speakers are John and Sheila Court who will share some of their experiences with a slide show of their lives in Nigeria.
