Amanzimtoti hijackers nabbed in Folweni

The remaining suspects were swiftly tracked down by members of SAPS in Folweni and arrested.

Local response officers assisted SAPS members to nab two hijackers in the Adams Mission area on Wednesday, 19 February.

ET Rapid Response’s tactical response team (TRT) responded to the vicinity of the R603 and M37 after receiving reports that SAPS members were in pursuit of a hijacked truck. The suspects had crashed into a bank and two fled into the bushes while the others jumped into a white Toyota Avanza and sped off.

“Our TRT members, SAPS and Metro Police surrounded and entered the dense bush area, and managed to apprehend the two hiding suspects,” said ET’s Tony Lokker. The remaining suspects who had fled in the Avanza were swiftly tracked down by members of SAPS in Folweni and arrested. A replica firearm, believed to be used in the commission of the offense, was recovered.

“Well done to all members out there working closely together. We are glad all members are safe and unharmed.”
