Residents are reminded that eThekwini Municipality cleansing and solid waste unit (DSW) staff are prohibited from touting. Staff will work throughout the festive period including Christmas and New Year’s day and while it is the season of giving, DSW staff are strictly prohibited from touting for gifts, including money, from residents. Residents are also advised to be wary of impostors posing as DSW workers to solicit gifts.
Collection of black refuse bags
The refuse removal services will continue as normal during the festive season including public holidays. The public is urged to place refuse bags on the verge on collection days. DSW offices will be closed on 25 December, 26 December and 1 January. However, operational staff will be on duty throughout the festive season.
Collection of recycling bags
The recycling bags will not be collected on public holidays. The non-collection only applies to areas whose recyclables are to be collected on the above-mentioned dates. Residents are requested to keep their recyclables and take them out on the next collection days which do not fall on public holidays.
