Discovery of burnt body raises fears in Illovo community

The body was found next to a gravel road at an illegal dump site.

THE community of B section in Illovo township woke up to a grisly discovery on Sunday morning when a badly burnt body of a woman was found.

According to police reports, the body was found next to a gravel road at an illegal dump site. Items of clothing discarded nearby suggest the woman may have been wearing calf-length blue jeans and a floral top.

Photographs of the crime scene started to make its rounds on social media, with many women expressing fear at the rising incidents of murders involving women.

Provincial SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele said a case of murder was opened at KwaMakhutha police station for investigation.

The motive for the killing is unknown and no arrests have been made.
