[UPDATE] Woman to undergo surgery after falling out of tree
According to Jackson, Anisha sustained numerous injuries and doctors are monitoring her condition.
A 24-year-old woman will undergo spinal surgery after falling about 15 metres out of a tree while attempting to rescue her cat. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, August 24 in Warner Beach. Anisha van Loggerenberg sustained serious injuries and was treated on scene by a Netcare 911 rescue technician as well as an advanced life support paramedic. Due to the nature of her injuries, a helicopter ambulance had to airlift her to the hospital for the care she required.
Tree feller, Grant Jackson was called to assist Anisha to retrieve her cat from the tree and witnessed the grim incident. “The cat was on the end of the branch and out of reach. With the assistance of her stepson, we managed to get the cat to the main stump of the tree. The cat climbed down a little lower and Anisha, in fear for her cat’s safety climbed up. She managed to get hold of the cat and was trying to lower it down to us when she then fell out the tree.”
According to Jackson, Anisha bled from her ear and with the assistance of her stepson, LJ King, they supported her head and neck while awaiting assistance.
“Netcare 911 arrived in minutes and Paul O’Neil from CCPO arranged for the helicopter to land in the Warner Beach Preparatory School senior campus grounds. I would like to just thank everyone from my side for the assistance and help but most of all I want to thank LJ. He is a brave young man and a true hero. It was truly amazing to see how calm and supportive he was.”
The cat is safe with Anisha’s partner, Chantelle. According to Jackson, Anisha sustained numerous injuries and doctors are monitoring her condition.
An update will follow.
