The birds were liberated on Sunday at 08:00 in clear, but icy conditions, but this did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm that the birds had to race home.
Doug Fry was victorious, clocking the winning bird at 14:31 followed closely by a loft mate two minutes later, taking second position.
To add icing to the cake, the two birds placed first and third in the Durban federation.
Bazil Tait, as always, was right up there in third position, with fourth place in the federation.
Hot on Bazil’s heels, was Danny Bradshaw and Lyn Rossouw. A well contested race by all participants.
Bazil Tait placed first and third in the Toti sale nomination stakes, with Doug Fry second.
Well done to the winners and applause for the wonderful performance of the magnificent athletes of the sky.
