Organisation feeds the community
The organisation is committed to creating monthly food packs for families.

The Feeding Company was recently launched to respond to several hungry people in the community. The organisation aims to feed homes that are led by grandparents raising orphans, widows, single parents and the unemployed.
“My calling has been feeding people,” said the founder of the Feeding Company, Mathabo Masilela.“I used to live in Pretoria and I would cook meals for the men who were looking for jobs. Every Saturday I would cook rice and soup and hand it out. Feeding people has always been my pride. It’s in my DNA. I also organised other people to make food parcels. When I moved to Amanzimtoti, my family would distribute cooked meals to people looking for jobs. Before the pandemic, we could see that people didn’t have enough to give others. The organisation was officially registered recently with the aim of reaching out to more families in need.”
The organisation is committed to creating monthly food packs for families.
“We assist the communities of Illovo, Kwamakutha and Warner Beach. Any member of the community who needs assistance, we will try to help them. We have contacts who provide us with the number of people who need assistance. At the moment we have four strategic people who go into the communities and find out the needs. Last month we assisted about 40 people.”
Bev Govender who assists with the operational aspects of the organisation said, “We want to make a difference to all those in need and we want to grow broader in the future. We do not want any family to sleep hungry especially the children who need to focus on education. My dream is to open up a shelter for homeless people.”
The monthly food parcel consists, rice, maize meal, oats, milk, vegetables, cooking oil, soup packs, canned goods, tea bags, sugar, toilet paper, soap and sanitary towels.
“We will appreciate all the help you can give us as we feed up to 50 families per month and the number is growing.”
