Gerald Chalder-Royle said he was in his garden one day when he noticed the snake hiding in a tree.
“I decided to leave it there and not bother it, hoping it will go away. It did not go away and over the next few days I could see it catching and feeding on mannikin birds,” said Gerald.
After deciding to have the snake removed, he acquired the services of Miguel de Fonseca, who caught it and positively identified it as a two-meter female green mamba.
The snake was safely released back into the wild near Umkomaas. For snake removal, De Fonseca can be contacted on 072 612 3218.
