Remote car jammers caught in Prospecton
The men confessed to other crimes after being caught.
THREE men were arrested in Prospecton after a car chase that started at Kingsburgh Centre in Winklespruit recently, and were found with a high-tech remote car lock jamming device.
Community Crime Prevention Organisation Amanzimtoti (CCPO) committee member, George Snodey, said he noticed a sedan that had reversed into a parking bay with two occupants inside.

“Another one was milling around among parked cars acting very suspicious. After observing for a while, I soon saw that they were attempting to remotely jam vehicles. Unfortunately, they noticed me watching them and the suspect jumped back into the parked sedan and the car sped off,” said Snodey.
The suspects took the N2 and drove towards Durban but SAPS had been notified and they joined CCPO and ET Rapid Response officers and waited for them in Prospecton.
The suspects were stopped and detained and taken back to Amanzimtoti SAPS. Upon searching their car, a sophisticated remote jamming device was found concealed.
“The suspects eventually admitted to dozens of remote jammings in the last few weeks all over the province,” said Snodey.
