“The competitor has to do all four races to qualify for the cash prizes. It’s simple, do all four races which is only 10km.
The times get divided by four and the lowest time wins. Teams will be racing against teams and individuals against individuals,” said Mad Mud Adventure Races race organiser, Cruz Barber.
Race one is 1km, starting at 08:00, and has to be completed within 20 minutes. Race two is 2km, starting at 08:20 and has to be completed within 30 minutes. Race three is 3km, starting at 08:50 and has to be completed within 40 minutes. Race four is 4km, starting at 09:30 and can be completed in any time.
There will be lucky draw prizes for all, along with cash prizes for category winners.
“The idea behind the race is to uplift our community, encourage a healthy lifestyle and at the same time, have a little bit of fun. It is hopefully the beginning of many more such events for Amanzimtoti.
The event is also creating income generating opportunities for the people assisting with the race and for tourism, showcasing our lovely town and sports grounds to runners from all over the province. We are expecting 300 runners on the day,” said Cruz.
