Toti man airlifted to hospital after accident

A helicopter was summoned to fly the patient to a hospital in Durban.

A MOTORBIKE driver was airlifted to a Durban hospital in a helicopter in a critical condition after he collided with a tractor on Monday, in Amanzimtoti.

In a statement, Emer-G-Med said the accident happened in Entombeni Drive just after 16:00 and paramedics responded soon afterward.

“On arrival, a male believed to be approximately 30-years-old was found to have sustained life-threatening injuries. Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilize him before he was placed onto a mechanical ventilator to assist him with breathing. A call was made for the assistance of the Netcare 911 helicopter to airlift him through to a specialist facility for the definitive care that he required,” said Emer-G-Med in a statement.
