Toti pre-school benefits from competition
The community could vote through SuperSpar's Facebook poll or write a schools name on till slips for in-store votes.
SUPERSPAR Winklespruit and Nyala recently handed a R10 000 cheque over to Animal Farm Pre-school who received the most votes on till slips and a Facebook poll.
Nyala ran a promotion inviting KZN Spar shoppers to stand a chance of winning one of 30 R2 000 vouchers. To enter, shoppers had to purchase a Nyala Maize product and then SMS a USSD code.
As a second part of the promotion, all KZN Spar stores who took part went into a randomised draw where the winner would be able to nominate a school of their choice to receive R10 000, with SuperSpar Winklespruit being the winning store.

“When I first received the email that our store had won I was so excited. The store manager, Joyce Sunker, and I discussed it and decided that the most impartial way to go about it would be to put it to a community vote,” said SuperSpar Winklespruit marketing and social media manager, Roxanne Baxter.
“Most of the schools were more than happy to get involved and fiercely started promoting the competition and encouraging everyone and anyone to vote.
It was thrilling to watch the online polls go up, especially when a new school was added out of nowhere and they quickly pushed their way to the top,” she said.
The community could vote through their Facebook poll and they also accepted till slips with school names on for in-store votes. A till slip vote counted as three votes, while an online vote counted as one.
“We allowed members of the community to add schools we had not thought to add. On the second to last day of the competition, parent, Sarah Niemandt, whose daughter goes to Animal Farm Pre-school nominated the school in the poll and on the last day they crushed it, coming second with 1 249 votes, just under Kamalinee Primary School who was in the winning with 1 657 votes online. Warner Beach Prep came in third with 963 votes,” said Roxanne.
Animal Farm Pre-school, located at 24 San Gabriel Avenue in Warner Beach, is family-owned and has been in operation since 2009. The school does their best to keep fees low and understands that not everyone has extra money, so they try their best not to ask parents for any extras.
“Thank you so much SuperSpar Winklespruit and Nyala for giving us this opportunity to take part in the competition and thank you to all the supporters who voted for us in-store and online.
The R10 000 will go towards our play area. We are going to renovate the area, add soft play equipment, install new artificial grass as well do a few other upgrades in the play area,” said co-owner of Animal Farm Pre-school, Dedere Welgemoed Kelly.
