State vet offers free rabies vaccinations in Amanzimtoti

Residents are urged to take their cats and dogs to the specified destinations to have their animals vaccinated against rabies free of charge.

THE KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will be hosting its free rabies vaccination clinics in Amanzimtoti next week.

The campaign aims to curb the spread of rabies and to improve rabies knowledge among communities.

On May 13, vaccinations will be administered at Arbour Crossing Shopping Centre from 08:30 to 11:00 and opposite the Athlone Park Library from 11:30 to 13:00.

On May 14, the state vet will be at the Seadoone Mall parking lot from 08:30 to 11:00 and at the Amanzimtoti Civic Centre from 11:30 to 13:00.

On May 15, residents can get their pets vaccinated behind the Kingsburgh Library in Warner Beach from 08:30 to 11:00 or at Plowman Park in St Winifreds from 11:30 to 13:00.

On May 16, vaccinations will be administered near the old Illovo Sugar Mill from 08:30 to 11:00 and then at the grounds next to the temple on PA Naicker Road from 11:30 to 13:00.

Then on May 17, the state vet will be stationed in the parking lot at Kingsburgh Centre from 08:30 to 11:00 and in Illovo Beach, opposite the postbox cluster on Elizabeth Avenue, from 11:30 to 13:00.

Pet owners must bring their animal’s certificate from their previous vaccinations. If they do not have one, a certificate will be issued on the day.
