Ezimbokodweni N2 bridge to open to traffic sooner than expected
Motorists travelling south await the opening of the N2 bridge with baited breath. This will alleviate the congestion on alternative routes.
WARD 97 councillor, André Beetge has announced that the N2 southbound carriageway on the damaged Ezimbokodweni River bridge could open to traffic on November 22 or even later today (November 21).

He said the new information comes following discussions with South African National Roads Agency Limited’s project management team.
“We can confirm that they have progressed to the point of conducting final tests. They are, however, confident that the road could be reopened on or before Friday, November 22, a week earlier than the original prediction,” said Beetge.
The N2 south reopening to traffic would ease the extreme congestion experience on alternative routes, especially the bottleneck caused at the Joyner Road and Prospecton/ Andrew Zondo roads intersection.
