Woman, boy injured in Isipingo collision

A woman in her 30s suffered severe injuries in the T-bone crash. The woman and an eight-year-old boy were trapped in the vehicle.

A WOMAN and an eight-year-old boy were injured in a multi-vehicle collision at the M35 and Platt Drive intersection in Isipingo on November 30.

PT Alarms spokesperson, Dhevan Govindasamy reported that the woman, in her 30s, suffered severe injuries in a T-bone crash and became trapped between the passenger door, dashboard, and centre console of the vehicle.

“PT Ambulance Service responded to the multi-vehicle incident, where both the woman and an eight-year-old boy were trapped. Emergency crews successfully freed the boy and transported him to a nearby hospital. Netcare ECP and Ethekwini Fire Services were also called to assist in stabilising and extricating the patients. Upon arrival, the fire department quickly began using hydraulic tools, including the jaws of life, to free the woman,” Govindasamy said.

Once extracted, the woman was stabilised at the scene and then rushed to the hospital for further treatment.
