Toti rugby players need help for NextGen school challenge

Twenty-five youth rugby players are hoping to raise the remaining funds needed to participate in the NextGen World School Challenge.

TWENTY-TWO Amanzimtoti High School rugby players were invited to participate in the NextGen World School Challenge from December 13 to 18 at Grey College in Bloemfontein.

According to a statement from the school, this challenge was not only a fantastic opportunity for the players to showcase their skills on an international platform, but also an invaluable experience that would significantly contribute to their growth as athletes.

This festival will also serve as a pivotal preparation step for the upcoming 2025 rugby season, which will be crucial for the team.

The first team coach, Romeo Rashidi,  said in a statement that financial assistance would be greatly appreciated. “It will not only serve as a symbol of your commitment to the community, but also as a commitment to nurturing young talent and promoting sports excellence. We truly believe that we can make a lasting impact on the lives of these young athletes and pave the way for their success in the rugby world.”

The players and parents have already managed to raise just over R264 000, but they are still about R25 700 short. The money will go towards expenses such as fuel, bottled water, laundry, energy snacks, strapping tape and other miscellaneous items.

The team includes three players from other schools in the south of Durban.

Donations must please be made into Amanzimtoti High School’s Nedbank account, number: 1306 000 696, reference: NextGen.
