Periwinkle Florist’s final farewell after 30 years

Periwinkle Florist has been an prominent business in Amanzimtoti since April 1, 1994 when the first shop was in the CBD.

Its the end of an era as of one of Amanzimtoti’s longest-running businesses is closing down on Christmas eve. Located at 22 Rockview Road, Periwinkle Florist has been a staple of the community for 30 years.

Heather Scholtz and Joanne West, who had been friends for 13 years, took over Petals Florist in the Amanzimtoti CBD on April 1, 1994. Just three years later, they expanded by acquiring Periwinkle Florist and ran the two businesses at separate locations. After a few years, they decided to merge them into a single entity, retaining the name Periwinkle Florist.

For 15 years, the florist was based in Kingsburgh Centre before relocating to its current spot on May 1, 2017. In a heartfelt statement the owners said that the decision to close was made after much consideration.

“For the past 30 years, it has been our privilege to serve this wonderful community, creating beautiful arrangements and building lasting relationships. We are deeply grateful to all of our loyal customers who have supported us through the years. You’ve truly become part of our family. Thank you for being part of our journey,” the statement said.

Periwinkle Florist’s final day of business will be December 24th.
