WATCH: Police van lands on its roof in Prospecton
The officer was rushed to hospital after being rescued by passersby.
The driver of a police van was rushed to the hospital to receive treatment for injuries sustained when his van plunged into a canal in Prospecton. The incident occured on Jeffels Road near the South Africa Breweries gate. According to a video that has been shared online, the van lost control and left the road, landing on its roof in the canal which had water about 30cm deep.

Passersby were able go down into the canal and force the door open to rescue the driver who was stuck inside. There were no other passengers in the van.
