The tournament was played to raise funds for Kyle Cameron (22) who was involved in a motorcycle accident on October 14. His full medical expenses are expected to reach hundreds of thousands of rands, and the games were held to meet some of those costs. Kyle is the son of Mark Cameron, the former Amanzimtoti Rugby Club’s rugby director.
A car wash was also held from the morning, and some of the money was raised through it. Amanzimtoti’s Old Boys, U13, and U11 youth teams lost all their matches against the Villagers. In the first match, the Villagers’ Old Boys’ squad scored 41 points to Toti’s 17, while the U11 and the U13s beat Toti by a combined total of 80 points.
