Khanya Hospice receives warm donation

The home received a donation of knitted items from a knit-a-thon held by Amanzimtoti Methodist Church.

THERE was joy at Khanya Hospice after it received a donation of knitted items, as well as R8 000 from fundraising efforts by members of the community.

The Amanzimtoti Methodist Church recently hosted a knit-a-thon or crochet-a-thon, which saw women from near and far bring their needles and knit or crochet for a cause. Some of the warm items donated include scarves, knee blankets and beanies.

Khanya Hospice’s sister, Mariane Visagie, said not only was their joy when receiving the donation but also when delivering it to their patients.

“Winter is on its way, and we will make sure our patients are not going to get cold. Thank you to all, especially Elaine Trotter, a member of the Toti Methodist Church who kindly organised this fundraiser and monetary donation,” she said.

Visagie added that it was a great social event with coffee or tea and the most delicious breyani donated by a shop owner in Seadoone Mall.
