Sharks Board closes southern beaches
The decision was taken after consultations with the KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board.
ALL southern beaches except Amanzimtoti Main have been closed for swimming as a result of the recent heavy rains.

Ward 97 councillor André Beetge said the decision to close the beaches came after consultations between the KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board and eThekwini Municipality. Poor visibility in the murky waters and other factors led to the decision being taken for the safety of the bathers.
“Swimming at Amanzimtoti Main Beach will remain restricted and subject to lifeguard decision at any given time,” said Beetge.
The debris brought down by the flow of rivers during heavy rains causes the ocean to be dirty, affecting the visibility in the water and the shark nets installed and monitored by the KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board.
