Daughter accused in shocking Folweni family murder plot

The Grade 11 learner along with her boyfriend and another man are facing charges of murdering her own mother.

IN A CHILLING case that has rocked the Folweni community, an 18-year-old Grade 11 learner appeared in the Umbumbulu Magistrate’s Court on December 9, together with her boyfriend and another man, facing charges of murdering her own mother, Muhle Ndlovu (52).

The trio is accused of conspiring to commit the murder, allegedly motivated by anticipated payouts from Ndlovu’s life insurance and pension funds.

The daughter reportedly confessed to police, implicating her child’s father and another accomplice. Authorities are still searching for a fourth suspect said to have been involved.

According to a family member, who spoke anonymously to avoid worsening familial tensions, the accused woke up to a knife-wielding intruder in her living room on the night of the murder. Moments later she discovered her mother’s lifeless body in the kitchen, covered in stab wounds. Despite attempts to seek help, including rushing her mother to hospital, the teenager was later arrested while helping to organise the funeral.

Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed the charges of murder and robbery against the three accused whose ages range from 18 to 36. The court has yet to decide on their bail applications.
