Father stabbed and son, 10, flees during armed robbery in Isipingo

The officers attempted to stabilise the stabbed victim until paramedics arrived.

A father and son were the victims of an armed robbery on Sunday, 11 April, in Lotus Park, Isipingo. The father was stabbed in the leg and his 10-year-old son fled the scene.

“Tactical officers received calls for assistance from community members and immediately responded to the scene. Upon arrival the officers found the man stabbed and bleeding profusely,” said the spokesperson of PT Alarms, Trishen Govender.

The father said he and his son were walking home to KwaMakhutha when knife-wielding suspects approached them and demanded his belongings.

“The father was afraid for his son’s safety and tried to fend off the robbers. The boy, however, quickly fled into the bushes for safety. The suspects stabbed the father in the leg and grabbed his cellphone before fleeing.”

The officers attempted to stabilise the stabbed victim until paramedics arrived.

“The victim was treated on scene and transported to hospital. A search of the nearby bushes was conducted by PT Tactical officers, but the boy could not be located. The search to locate the boy was extended and he was later returned home.”
