Amanzimtoti High holds first place for matric results

Amanzimtoti High School achieved a 100% pass rate for the national senior certificate examinations and KwaZulu-Natal ranked second nationally with 89.5%.

THE 2024 matric results were released to much fanfare today (January 14), bringing relief to over 1 million learners who sat for their senior certificate examinations.

Most high schools in the Amanzimtoti circuit did well, achieving pass rates of over 90%, with Amanzimtoti High School achieving 100%. Schools in Amanzimtoti, Umgababa, Umkomaas, and Illovo township all fall under the Amanzimtoti Circuit, which is part of the Umlazi district.

Nationally, 47.8% of candidates qualified for admission to bachelor studies, a significant improvement from last year’s 40.9% and represents the highest number of bachelor passes in recent history. KwaZulu-Natal came second nationally with an 89.5% pass rate after Free State which obtained 91%.

• Adams College – 98.3%
• Mnganiwakhe High School – 97.3%
• Kingsway High School – 94.1%
• Mcothoyi High School – 90.7%
• Esizibeni High School – 77.5%

Provincial results:
• Free State – 91%
• KwaZulu-Natal – 89.5%
• Gauteng – 88.4%
• North West – 87.5%
• Western Cape – 86.6%
• Limpopo – 85.1%
• Mpumalanga – 84.9%
• Eastern Cape – 84.9%
• Northern Cape – 84.2%.
