HUNDREDS of matric learners across secondary schools in Amanzimtoti and surrounding areas lined up together one last time to collect their results for the 2024 National Senior Certificate examinations.
A mixture of nervousness, anticipation and excitement stirred within the former learners. The results, however, were cause for celebration as KwaZulu-Natal came away with a highly-respectable 89.5% pass rate, falling just shy of first place province, Free State’s 91%.
Kingsway High School’s top achiever, Sabian Naidoo, obtained a superb seven distinctions. He explained that a strong support system is vital for matric, touting parents as an important factor in the winning equation.
“You need someone to reallypush you sometimes. It’s easy to get lazy and so I would say having a good support structurewill really push you forward and encourage you to do your best. Likewise, I think planning aheadas well. You should always be ahead of everybody else as far as you can becauseleaving it to the last minute is not the way to go. I think you’ll find that this year isfull of stress – you want to prevent as much stress so that you can do the bestpossible in your exams and tests. Also, spend some good time relaxing and resting. Don’t get too absorbed in your studies,” added Sabian.
He plans to study actuarial science at either the University of Cape Town or the University of Witwatersrand.
Teagan Peché and Nika Ward were all smiles as they both came away with four As.
Kuswag Skool matrics were ecstatic with their results. The school boasts an impressive 98.7% pass rate.
