Umbumbulu matriculants secure medical school placements

Four matric learners from Sibusisiwe Comprehensive Technical High School each received eight distinctions and have all been accepted into universities.

ALL four top learners from Sibusisiwe Comprehensive Technical High School in Umbumbulu have been accepted to study medicine at various universities and are thrilled about the opportunity.

Akhona Shange, Uyanda Khwela, and Mandisa Maphumulo have been accepted at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, while Asanda Dube will be furthering her studies at the world-renowned University of Cape Town. They each received eight distinctions in mathematics, physical science, accounting, life sciences, geography, isiZulu, English, and life orientation. Their school also achieved a 100% pass rate and was named the top school in the Umbumbulu Central circuit.

They said while they were nervous and waited anxiously for the results, they knew they would do well because of the work they had put into studying.

Mandisa thanked the school’s teachers for pointing them in the right direction and for encouraging them to excel.

“Their hard work is amazing. They did all they could to ensure we succeed,” said Mandisa.

The school is known for its strict study regimen, with evening classes held until 21:00.
