[Video] Cash-in-transit heist shuts down N2

The robbery of a cash-in-transit van caused traffic chaos on the N2 this morning.

EARLY morning traffic on the N2 came to a standstill after a cash delivery van was held up by unknown gunmen between the cement factory and the Higginson Highway turnoff just after 06:00 today (February 4).

According to Garrith Jamieson of ALS Paramedics, the van was on the northbound lane when it came under fire. After ramming it off the road, the gunmen made off with an undisclosed amount of money. The injured guards were treated at the scene and transported to nearby hospitals.

The road is closed on both directions between M7 (Edwin Swales) and M1 (Higginson Highway).
