Power went out just after 04:00 in a wide area that stretches from Leslie Road in Doonside to Bjorseth Crescent in the Amanzimtoti CBD.

Councillor André Beetge said the outage was likely a result of the heavy rains that caused flooding.

“The department is aware of the medium volt outage reported at 04:13 this morning. We have enquired regarding this and the possibility of splitting the two areas to restore power to some if not all,” said Beetge.

The reference number for the fault is 7152670.

He added that the eThekwini Municipality’s electricity call centre is experiencing challenges in receiving calls due to complications caused by the storm. Customers are asked to use the municipality’s app to log complaints.
