Caxton Cares Square by Square Project nears halfway mark

With just over a month left, hopes remain high to reach the goal of 500 knee blankets and bring warmth to seniors in Amanzimtoti and The Bluff this July.

WORDS cannot express the excitement in the Southlands / South Coast SUN office when 25 beautifully knitted and crocheted knee blankets were delivered.

This brings the official tally to 205 blankets, a huge milestone in the drive to collect 500 knee blankets by June 2. “With just over a month to go, we are nearly halfway there,” said an excited editor, Roelien D’Amico.

“I know more blankets are on the way. Each one is made with so much love and care with vibrant colours and incredible craftsmanship. I cannot wait to see the faces of our senior citizens when they receive their very own blanket.”

The blankets will be distributed to seniors in Amanzimtoti and The Bluff areas in July, and D’Amico remains optimistic that the 500-target will be reached. “The community has been absolutely fabulous in their support so far. All I can say is a heartfelt thank you.”
