Kick off for a cause in Lotus Park for Seva Bhakti Foundation’s birthday

The SBF birthday fest and charity cup combines community excitement, indoor soccer and feeding the needy in an unmissable Lotus Park event.

IN CELEBRATION of their seventh birthday, Seva Bhakti Foundation (SBF) is hosting a birthday festival on June 21 at Kamalinee Primary School.

The celebratory event is jam-packed with exciting activities for the whole family, including live entertainment, a spicy noodles eating challenge, a giant burger competition, a host of games and activities for children, market stalls with delectable foods, crafts, clothing and more.

Public relations officer for the foundation, Rizwaana Cassim, said, “This is not only a celebration of our foundation’s birthday, but also a heartfelt fundraising initiative to support our ‘School Lunch Club’, which provides meals every Tuesday and Thursday to disadvantaged learners in our local community. For many of these children, this is the only meal they receive in a day, and their joy and their smiles remind us of the profound impact a warm plate of food can have. In addition to the weekly school meals, we run monthly feeding initiatives to reach children and families in need. Our hope is to grow this outreach and offer meals more frequently.”

SBF is a non-profit, multi cultural organisation that works to help disadvantaged individuals and communities within South Africa. It’s main focus is on the elderly and underprivileged children. By involving the communities in cultural and social events, SBF endeavours to create a sense of togetherness to enrich and empower the less fortunate in collaboration with the community.

“The charity cup and birthday fest is our way of bringing people together to enjoy a day filled with sports, entertainment and community spirit while making a tangible difference. It is about uplifting the next generation through sport,” said Rizwaana.

Chairperson of Isipingo Junior Soccer Academy, Minesha Singh, expressed the organisation’s desire to support charity organisations and invited its players to support the tournament. Parents/guardians can liaise with coach Strachan James at Kamalinee Primary School and coach Joe Pillay at Gokul Primary School to assist with team formations. While the event is free to enter, the soccer tournament costs R300 per team.
