Warning: Road collapses in Amanzimtoti

The sinkhole is filled with water, making it invisible to drivers.

MOTORISTS using Wanda Cele Road (Old Main Road) in Amanzimtoti today (July 12) are urged to exercise caution as the roadway has collapsed near Zulwini Gardens, creating a dangerous sinkhole.

Earlier today, a vehicle plunged into the gaping hole as it is filled with water and the unsuspecting driver drove into it unknowingly.

Emergency services as well as eThekwini Municipality has been notified and work to secure the hole to make it visible to road users will commence soon.

The South African Weather Service has predicted more disruptive rains over the weekend along the coastal areas.
